My journey took a pivotal turn when, adopted by Edward Cafferky at nine, where I discovered the American classics through my father.
In the early 2000s, working for an entertainment company it exposed me to a repetitive DJ scene. Feeling the missed opportunity for genuine connection, I recognized a need for diversity. Motivated by curiosity and the desire to evoke unique emotions, I ventured into DJing, with a deep knowing that I could do more and fill a gap that was missing.
The first unexpected gig at Yale School of Medicine became a transformative moment for my career. Assigned to play a music CD while waiting for my boss to arrive, I seized the chance to infuse diversity into the playlist. When he failed to show up at a needed time, my impromptu DJ session captivated the crowd, reigniting their passion for dancing. When he eventually arrived, he immediately acknowledged my innate talent, affirming that I was ready without any formal training. This marked the beginning of my journey as a DJ at my own events, shaped by a serendipitous twist of fate.
THE WHY behind the DJ
As I age, my understanding of purpose crystallizes – to inspire and empower by sharing the narrative of my evolution, from who I was to who I've become and the path that brought me here.
Being a DJ has not only unlocked numerous opportunities but has also broadened my own horizons through authentic human connections. In these moments, I witness a divine force at work. Strangers approach me, sharing the impact of my performances, expressing how they haven't enjoyed themselves so thoroughly in ages. It becomes evident through my energy that I genuinely love people.
This love for others fuels my desire to narrate my journey, as our shared experiences and similarities bind us together. Hearing such affirmations humbles me, prompting expressions of gratitude to God when I return home. These encounters serve as constant reminders of my trajectory within my purpose. And every single experience, interaction, and relationship built through this outlet, I am thoroughly grateful.
